Lady Melesme was the Badger Lady of Salamandastron. She was an old, powerful badger, said to have ruled for over 27 seasons. She made a drum for the Redwallers, though it was stolen by Gulo the Savage. She then ordered her Long Patrol to go seek out the drum and kill Gulo and his vermin.
